ThreeRays Participated in IAEA International High Level Forum

The NUTEC Plastics International High Level Forum, organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), was held in Manila, Philippines from November 25-26, 2025. This year's forum focused on Nuclear Technology for Controlling Plastic Pollution, bringing together over 200 top experts, scholars, and industry leaders from around the world. The two-day event featured a high-level opening ceremony, ministerial meeting, thematic multi-stakeholder panel discussions, technical sessions, business networking opportunities, and a youth representatives' forum, providing an in-depth exploration of the innovative applications and future direction of nuclear technology in plastic pollution control. IAEA Director General Grossi and Philippine President Marcos attended and delivered remarks.

According to statistics, approximately 20 million tons of plastic enter oceans, rivers, and lakes each year, severely damaging ecosystems and affecting people's livelihoods. The IAEA launched the Nuclear Technology for Controlling Plastic Pollution (NUTEC Plastics) initiative in 2020, which uses scientific methods to track, analyze, and reduce plastic pollution at the atomic level. The initiative integrates science and technology to address plastic waste through two main approaches:
Monitoring and Assessment: Using nuclear technology to track and study marine microplastics, providing a scientific basis for decision-making;
Upcycling: Using radiation technology to convert plastic waste into useful, high-value-added products.

Peng Wei, General Manager of ThreeRays, participated in the forum and engaged in extensive exchanges and discussions with attending officials, experts, and enterprise representatives, laying a solid foundation for future technical exchange and industrial cooperation. ThreeRays is committed to becoming a global leader in irradiation support for X-ray, electron beam, and gamma ray technologies. Building on this participation as a development opportunity, the company will further expand its business and work together with domestic and international partners to jointly promote the industrial application of irradiation technology and high-quality development of the irradiation industry.
